Privacy policy
Last updated: 2 November 2026 · Applies to the Proxy Labs website and the Proxy Labs beta app.
The short version
- Your footage never leaves your computer. All analysis, including face grouping and speech transcription, runs locally on your PC.
- We store your email address (to sign you in), the optional answers you give us (your role, weddings per year, email preference), feedback you choose to send, crash reports you choose to send, anonymous usage statistics if you allow them, and a count of downloads.
- No advertising, no tracking cookies, no selling of data.
Who we are
Proxy Labs is developed and operated by Peter Zsoldos, an individual developer based in Finland, who is the controller of the personal data described here. Contact: proxylabsmail@gmail.com.
What the app processes on your computer
The Proxy Labs app reads the video and audio files you open to sync cameras, detect technical problems, find moments, group faces and transcribe speech. These results (including face embeddings, which can be biometric data) are stored only on your computer, in %LOCALAPPDATA%\ProxyLabs. They are never sent to us or to anyone else. You can delete them at any time by deleting that folder. Proxy Labs never modifies, moves or deletes your media files.
You are responsible for having the right to process the footage you open, for example your agreement with the couple you filmed.
AI models and transparency
In accordance with the EU AI Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689) and global transparency guidelines: Proxy Labs employs local machine-learning models (YuNet, SFace, YAMNet, Whisper) to detect audio events, transcribe speech, and group faces within a shoot. All AI outputs are non-binding assistive suggestions subject to human editor review. No biometric data or footage is ever uploaded to or stored on Proxy Labs servers. The models and their licences are listed in the third-party notices and in the app under Help › About.
What we store on our servers
- Account: your email address, the date you signed up, and when you last signed in. Purpose: to give you access to the beta (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, performance of our agreement with you).
- Optional profile answers: your role, weddings per year, and whether you'd like update emails. Purpose: to understand who uses the beta and, only if you opt in, to email you about major updates (Art. 6(1)(a), consent, which you can withdraw anytime).
- Feedback: the message you send, its type, the app version, your operating system and which screen you were on (with counts like the number of cameras, never file names). Optionally, if you add them: an email address for a reply, the app's recent log with file names removed, and a screenshot of the Proxy Labs window, which shows the video frame that was on screen. Feedback can be sent without an account; if it can't be sent right away, it's kept on your computer and sent later. Purpose: improving Proxy Labs (Art. 6(1)(f), legitimate interest).
- Crash reports (only when you click "Send report"): the app version, operating system, the error message and technical trace, and the app's recent log, with file names and folder paths removed before sending. You can see exactly what is sent before you agree. Purpose: fixing bugs (Art. 6(1)(a), consent).
- Usage statistics (only if you say yes, changeable anytime under Help › About): a random install ID and events such as "shoot opened (3 cameras, about 6 hours)", "step finished" or "export done (24 moments kept)". Never file names, footage, faces, transcripts or anything else about the content of your work. Purpose: learning where people get stuck (Art. 6(1)(a), consent).
- Feedback attachments: if you tick "Attach the app's recent log", the last part of the log is added to your feedback, with file names and folder paths removed.
- Computers you use Proxy Labs on: a one-way code derived from your computer's ID (it can't be turned back into the ID or your computer's name), the operating system, and when that computer was first and last used. Purpose: one account can be active on up to 3 computers (Art. 6(1)(b), performance of our agreement). Signing out removes that computer; computers unused for 30 days are removed automatically.
- Downloads: that a download happened, and which version. We store no IP address. Purpose: counting usage (legitimate interest).
The app also checks for updates by fetching a small public file from our website. That request contains no personal data beyond what any web request does (for example, your IP address in the hosting provider's short-lived logs).
Service providers
- Supabase (authentication and database), hosted in the EU region.
- Cloudflare (website and download hosting). It may process IP addresses in security logs.
- Resend (email delivery): sends your sign-in codes, so it processes your email address and the code.
They process data only on our behalf, under data processing agreements. Where data leaves the EU/EEA, the providers' Standard Contractual Clauses apply.
How long we keep it
We keep account data for as long as your account exists, and delete it within 30 days of you asking us to. If we discontinue the beta, we delete beta data within 90 days. Feedback may be kept in anonymised form.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, export or delete your data, object to processing, or withdraw consent, by emailing proxylabsmail@gmail.com. You may also complain to your data protection authority. In Finland, that's the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuoja.fi).
Children
Proxy Labs is a professional tool and not intended for anyone under 16.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update the date above and tell beta users by email or in the app.
